Located at the geographical center of Europe this region is a hidden gem tucked into the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains. While this region has been making world-famed sweet wines for over 500 years, adventurous wine drinkers reap big rewards with this bubbly made from Furmint - the main varietal of the area. This sparkler has a summer perfect aroma of jasmine, lemon and toasted almond.
Gunderloch Nackenheim Riesling Trocken, Rheinhessen 2013 $25
Grape Variety: Riesling
Situated in the Rheinhessen region of Germany, Weingut Gunerloch grows Riesling on 250 million year old “red slate” soil. The special microclimatic setting on the steep slopes next to the impressive Rhine River create wines that reverberate with crunchy and crackling acidity. This dry Riesling is lively with flinty, floral accents and delicious green apple and pear flavors.
Gobelsburger Gruner Veltliner, Kamptal 2015 $19
Grape Varieties: Gruner Veltliner
Schloss Gobelsburg is situated in the Kamptal region of Austria; a region planted with vines since 1074! It’s safe to say that after over 1,000 years of grape growing the Austrians know which grapes work best! We love this Guner Veltliner for it delicate notes of pear and fresh peach. The palate is juicy and vivid with citrus, green quince and some white pepper. Light on its feet, with an energetic force at its core and lovely concentration of citrus and herb notes, this is far too easy to drink and very, very refreshing.
