JOIN US AT THE TABLE WHERE WE DINE WITH STELLAR WINE MAKERS AND DRINK A LOT OF THEIR WINE.

January 26:  Ryme Winery

A love affair in wine-making and life, join husband and wife  team Ryan and Megan Glaab to help us kick off our first producer dinner in the new Somm's Table. Known for sourcing rare and unusual grapes, often of Italian varieties, they use no cultured yeast, no temperature controls,  and no enzymes or  adulterants in their search for beautifully "fresh" idiosyncratic - and food friendly- characteristics.  Ryme's aims is to produce wines you will love to drink. Often.

January 27: This month's Lioco Winery Lunch Matt Licklider and Kevin O'Connor were big city boys that went country for all the right reasons. For over a decade now they have been producing wine from some of the best grapes grown in Sonoma, Mendocino, and Santa Cruz in a search for an astute definition of what we should mean by 'vintage California,'  Negociants of distinction, they are 'back by popular demand' for Barndiva/Lioco Lunches, held on the last Friday of every month. Reserve these directly through the winery liocowine.com

February 9: Small Vines Winery

Jancis Robinson is not the only one saying "Small Vines Winery are the ones to watch."  Yet another dynamic husband and wife team, Paul and Kathryn Sloan are true traditionalists in approaching their goal of producing Grand Cru in California,  all all estate grown and 100% organic. Fastidious farming, small yields, concentrated flavors and beautifully balanced.  Come and meet these pioneering vignerons.

March 16: Alysian Wines

Alysian is known for sourcing off the beaten path grapes from veteran growers and little know vineyards in Sonoma and Mendocino County to as far north as Willamette Valley, Wa, . But they always handcraft their "nuanced libations" right here in Healdsburg. Join winemaker Woody Hamrecht, whose talents now include production of vermouth, at The Somm's table.  And don't forget to ask for a taste of their kosher wine,  to our knowledge,  the first in Sonoma County.

April 13: Leo Steen

That winemaker Leo Hansen has one of the best classically trained palates in the business is well known; the son of a chef and hotelier, this native Dane literally grew up in the food and wine business. Then he traveled the world, studying and winemaking, until luckily (for us) landing at Stulhmuller, where he is still making their award winning wines. Leo Steen is his own label, and his style here reflects a true understanding of the wine/food paradigm. A good friend of Barndiva since we opened, we adore Leo and the wines he makes and look forward to a special evening with this elegant and deeply talented man.

May 4th: brick and mortar

Make no mistake: We love this dynamic duo - brick and mortar's brilliant winemaker Matt Iaconis and his equally talented wife, our wonderful (and world class) Sommelier, Alexis. Talent abounds in this family, but above all else it's the focus and passion they bring to everything they take on that continually amazes us. Matt's speciality is working with high elevation mountain vineyards in Napa, Sonoma and Mendocino, making delightful old world style Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah. He will bring all of them. Get ready for a very very special evening.

Alexis' Wine Notes

Barndiva Chardonnay by Copain, Anderson Valley 2015 $25

This Chardonnay is quite special to us for several reasons. Made from organically farmed grapes a hop skip and jump from our farm in Anderson Valley, it is one of three wines with our label on them made by the extraordinary Wells Guthrie at Copain Winery. Crisp and fresh, with no new oak to obscure the bouquet, it’s alive with lemon, jasmine, and fresh apple aromas we’d like to think wafted down over the vineyard from our orchards on the greenwood ridge.

Domaine la Manarine Côtes du Rhône 2014 $17

This Southern Rhône red from 100% Grenache produces a classically spicy, full-bodied red that speaks unmistakably of the “garrigue,” the fragrant plants that grow wild along the Mediterranean coast. For generations the specific terroir at Domaine la Manarine have been recognized as unique, consisting of a deep layer of more than 60% hard limestone “galets,” the perfect soil to produce elegant and aromatic wines.

Poliziano Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2013 $34

A luscious Tuscan red made from 85% Sangiovese and 15% Colorina, Caniolo and Merlot, this wine is loaded with tart red fruits, hard spice and a hint of cocoa. Vino Nobile di Montelpulciano wines are considered “baby Brunellos.” The Sangiovese grown in this village is the noble Prugnolo Gentile clone, known for its silky, elegant texture, and exquisite purity of fruit. Qualifies at Barndiva as a 'Chef Fancher ++approved red."
